TESTING GOVERNMENT'S POLICY. WEBB CONTESTS THE GREY SEAT\ By Telegraph.—Press Association. , Greymouth, iNov. 14. •< , In compliance with the request of the Labor Party, Mr. Webb has definitely announced himself a candidate for the Grey seat. Speaking at tho Opera House last night, Mr. Webb said ho stood as aa avowed enemy of the Government, whom he invited to eorno to the electorate to help vote him out. He hoped the election would not oe conducted on the "win the war" cry, but a» a test of 'approval or otherwise of tho National Government's policy regarding the cost of living, and particularly the war measures.
MR. T. WILFORD APPOINTED A MINISTER. Wellington, Last Night. The Prime Minister informed a »• porter that Mr. T. M. Wilford had been appointed to the Ministry to fill the vacaney caused by the death of Dr. McNab Mr. Wilford has been in Parliamint sinoe 1890, and has held the position of chairman of committees.
