THE SEASON'S CONGESTION, As about three present season have passed and nothing <j|fihite lias yet been received from the Imperial Government regarding the purchase of the season's output of butter and cheese, dairy factory directors are- beginning to feel rather concerned regarding the prospects of continuing the liflfujj 20th of the month advance to supplier?;'as tWy are doubtful, in view of the congestion of shipping, whether the banks will te prepared to continue making the necessary advances unless payment is guaranteed by the Imperial Government purchasing the output. ■ .' In order to allay the anxiety, jlr. H. .T. Okey, M.P. for Taranaki, on Monday telegraphed the Premier find yeiterday received the following -yejlj: "The negotiations in respfct to. butter and cheese are now rsasijng their final stages. The position regarding cheese is that an offer was mftiji by the Imperial authorities of 9}d per pound for this seasons' output, and at a tteeting of cheese producers held in Wellington on the 31st ult. it wna jigreed (o'acecpt the price offered, details' to be Arranged later. In the fcase of Witter, a representative meeting of butter p&ducera was held on the 2nd inst., prKeh.it was agreed to accept the price offered by the Imperial Government, and, al with cheese, certain details to, be ijranged later. Since that time the' Commissioner has been endeavoring; to finally arrange details, but up to llie present he has not been able to say that the arrangements in regard to the'detalls submitted arc complete. *1 ftp now anxiously awaiting a sta'iemtii from the High Commissioner, but I am confident that the details of both transactions will be satisfactorily arranged within r day or two. Nothing has been left undone at this end, and am sprry there has been so much delafc at fee oHieV. "Secondly, regardiifg dairy, iibtorles' finance. This is one of the matters which I have urgently requested the Imperial Government; to expedite, and about which the HighHtommissioner will advise when transmitting tie reply of the Imperial authorities, in respect to the details above to regarding •butter and cneese."
