MOTOR-CYCLE ACCIDENTS.
A DEVON STEEET COLLISION. A serious accident occurred yesterday morning, about eight o'clock, at the junction of Devon and Currie streets. .Mr. 0. J. Herrick was riding a lady's push bike across Devon street when a motorcycle, ridden by a returned soldier named Hooker, crashed into him. The force of the impact carried both men and their machines about twenty paces from the point of collision, and the push bike was damaged to such an extent as to be almost beyond repair. Mr. Herrick iiistained a broken leg and severe wound? to the head and faw. The rider of the motor-cycle was uninjured., and his machine little damaged. Dr. Blackley rendered first aid, and ordered Mr. Ilernck's removal to the hospital. On enquiry last night we were informed that though Herrick's injuries are serious, his condition was satisfactory. It is a coincidence that just twelve months ago to n day Mr. Herrick was seriously injured at Te Henui, being thrown from his motor bike on to his head. COLLISION AT OAKUM. An accident of a similar kind occurred on the Oakura road on Saturday nhln. when a motor-cyclist named Herbert Lightband collided with a boy on an ordinary bike. Fortunately neither rider was very much injured, Mr,. Lightband escaping with a slight injury to the ankle and the boy with little more than a shaking. A MIDfIIRST COLLISION.
As a result of a collision between two motor-cycles near Midhirat, a young man named John Stephenson, whose father has recently returned from the front, received a fractured leg and other injuries that necessitated his removal to the Stratford Hospital.
