The official opening of the Fitzroy groen did not take place on Thursday, the showery weather in the morning causing the officials to postpone tiie event until Saturday, though had they trusted to the chance of a. fine afternoon the ceremony could have taken place under most favorable circumstances. The invitsv tion to visiting bowlers and ladies is : renewed for Saturday when it is 'hoped there will be a large atendance. An enjoyable afternoon's play rewarded those who were on the Fitzroy green on Thursday, among them being visitors from Sstrait'ord, New Plymouth and West End.
