ANITA STEWART IN "THE COMBAT" AT EVERYBODY'S TO-DAY.
The fight of a girl against her second husband for the life of her first is the essence of the splendid Vitagraph drama "The Combat" which commences at Everybody's matinee to-day. "The Combat" stars Anita Stewart and gives her every opportunity for the display of the heartbreaking, screen witchery which is hers in such unique fashion. The action of tho plot is very compressed and powerful. It contains some scenes of real melodrama, and surprises occur all the wav ihrough. One of the latter is when (iraydon Burton, (.he voting husband accused of murder crashes through the crr.irtroom window carrying away nla«s mi' l all in one mighty spring. And h'•!•« is .1 realistic and :',l!ir_ct!;cr wonderI'n' •».:!: wreck, the list of whose ,'as-ualtic-i causes .most of the trouble,- Tk*
supporting cast of men is one of the strongest got together, and the whole sandard of acting in tho play is simply at an extraordinary level. There are in addition some almost incredible scenes of a stern chase through the snow pn dog-sleds, in wild mountainous country. New York society luxury surrounds most of the plot, but "when, ns it occasionally docs, the action moves to the other regions, the photography is equally good. There is a good Graphis and a Keystone comedy in support.
