CONVERSION OF TRUST MONEY.

A BANKRUPT'S DEFAULT. ( By Telegraph.—'Press Association. Christchureh, Last Night. At the Supreme Court to day, Alfred Ernest Craddock, a well-known land agent, was charged with converting to his own use £350 belonging to the esftite of the late Denis Booker, of which lie was trustee. Accused recently filed a petition in bankruptcy, Ms liability amounting to £17,000. The case for the prosecution was that accused received the amount and, instead of paying it to the representative® of the beneficiaries of the estate, paid it into his own account. The defence admitted receiving the amount, but contended accused had no intention of retaining it.

Accused, in his evidence, stated that his position was due to depreciation of securities and the bank shutting down on him. Ho had informed the solicitors of the beneficiaries that the amount was available and would be hanKcd over when the question of commission was settled.

The jury found accused guiltv. His Honor referred to the other charges against accused, and Mr. Raymond, for the Crown, agreed to consult with Mr. Greason on them, and the Court, adjourned till to-morrow.
