TARANAKI AGRICULTURAL SOCIETY.
* MEETING OF COMMITTEE. A meeting of the committee of tho Taranaki Agricultural Society was held in the office of the secretary on Saturday afternoon. Present: Messrs W. B. Grant (in the chair), W. Hall, J. Allen. A. Turnbull, A. Lister, N. Hill, G. Colson, F: Hodson, A. T. Moore, C. Dobson, R. Gilbert, H. Benton, B. Honeyfield, T. Smellie. The following recommendations from the executive committee were adopted: ' That the green feed and Swede acreag competitions committee be composed of Messrs. J. Connett, 11. King, T. Luxton, J. R. Rowlands, H. C. Sampson, W. B. Grant and B. Honeyfield. That Mr 1 . Ji. ftJ'Leod be appointed chairman of the Winter Show Committee, and that the following committee be associated with him to outline a scheme for the improvement of the winter show:—Messrs. G. W. Browne, A. T. Moore, L. A. Nolan, and J. Connett. That the following he added to the general committee: J. H. Allen, W. Hall, F. Hodson, B. Honeyfield, R. Johnston, H. Lmn, R. H. Pigott, A. R. Gudopp, J. H. Street, S. Topless, A. Turnbull, L. Hill J. R. Hill, T. Luxton, Roy Gilbert, W. Scott, a, H. Olsen, H. Ward. That the various dairy factory companies be written to asking for notification of any change in their representatives to the society. That meetings'be held on the same dates as in the past, and that the time of executive meetings he .8 o'clock. Committees were appointed to revise the various sections of the Auitumn bhow schedule, and the hope was expressed that exhibitors who had any suggestions to make for the improvement of the show would acquaint the secretary with the same.
Canvassers were appointed for the different districts to solicit donations of stock, etc., in connection with the gift sale of stock being arranged to augment he funds of the society. The canvassers are:-Hillshorough, N. W. Hill; Urenui R. H. Pigott; Frankley Road, W. B Grant and J. 'Connett. Lepperton, W Hall and A. Turnbull,-' Tarurutangi G Longstaff; Tikorangi, J. H . Allen and W. MKenzie; Rahotu, A. Phillips: Omata, B. Honeyfield and E. R. Baylv Waitoitoi, J. Phillips; Bell Block, J. Connett; Kent and Albert roads, J. R. Rowlands; Egmont Village, H. Olsen; Mangorei, G. Mitchell; Smart Road, H O Skelton and G. Colson; Okato, C. Andrews and J. Wooldridge; Warea, J Burgess : Inglewood, A. B. Gamlin; Pukearuhe J W. H. Martin; Uruti, C. Barnett and C. Musker; Waitara, T. Luxton. That canvassers be circularised pointing out that the most urgent requirements for finances were the liquidation of existing liabilities, to roof in the unfinished portions of the cattle pavilion, to deal with river bank protection, and to effect repairs to winter show annexes.
That the Stratford A. and P. Association's letter re wool-growers' eonferenca be acknowledged and that they be informed that Taranaki is not sufficiently interested in wool to make any material difference and that the larger societies further south should take the matter up and obtain representation. That Messrs Connett, Benton, Moore and Grant be a committee to go into the question of the supervision of the gates at the autumn show.
Messrs Connett, Browne. Nolan, M'Leod, Grant and Eairbrother were appointed the Finance Committee for the ensuing year. The following Executive Committee was also appointed:—.Messrs J. S. Con'nett, G. W. Browne, W. B. Grant, J. M'Leod, C Dobson, C. W. Ruebe, C. Fairbrother A. T. Moore, N. Hill, G. Colson, H. Benton, A. Lister, H. C. Sampson, J. R. Hill, B. Honeyfield, W. Scott, H. Ward, C. Hooker, J. R. Rowlands The question of protecting the banks of the Waiwakaiho River along the society's property was referred to a committee consisting of Messrs Connett, Grant and Dobson.
