Received Oet. 28, 5.03 p.m. / London, Oct. 27. • The Chronicle's Paris correspondent states that the log of L 49 shows that the disaster was due to the breakdown in the system of steering by wireless signals. The Zeppelins had no" meanß of correcting the drift caused by the wind, hence the compass was often useless. Every Zeppelin is in constant touch with several wireless stations in Germany, which send a constant stream of indications, so enabling the Zeppelin to steer a correct course. On Friday the wireless directions went astray "or were indecipherable, so the airships lost their . bearings. A SIXTH ZEPPELIN DESTROYED. Received Oct. 28, 5.30 ■ p.m. Paris, Oct. 27. It is definitely stated that a sixth Zeppelin, which took part in the recent raid on Britain, sank in the Mediterranean. It was last seen forty-fiv*. miles south of Porquerolles, flying south-westerly and descending seawards. French aviators unsuccessfully searched for wreckage.
