STRATFORD A. & P. SHOW

£1036 OFFERED IN PRIZES. That the Stratford A. and P.-Associa-tion does things thoroughly is evident by a perusal of its schedule for the forthing show, to be held on Wednesday and Thursday, 28th and 29th November. The prizes amount in value to a total of £1056. This includes some handsome trophies, but the greatest portion by far is offered in cash. The cattle section claims £276, and the wisdom of the association in thus allocating so large an .amount cannot be doubted, in a district which is so largely dependent for its progress on the dairying industry. The encouragement to breed and show better cattle must be reflected in the better yields of butterfat. The task of making two blades of grass grow where one previously grew is recognised philanthropy, and we may safely assert that the same principle applies to the increase of butterfat production. The schedule shows evidence of great thought and care on the part of the association committee which compiled it, and is now available on application to the secretary. Stock owners and competitors should note that entries close on the 17th November.
