CHINA.
A SOUTHERN REBELLION. Shanghai, Oct. 23. The illunan Independent forces, reinforced from Kwangtung and Kwangsi, captured Hongshang after a two days' battle. Several of the governors urged the Government to agree to a compromise. It is reported that the British Minister, Sir John Jordan, has also recommended a compromise. The Premier, Twanghijui, refuses, and more Northern troops have been dispatched.
