PERSONAL.
Mr W. J. Smith, Hillsborough, has received advice that his son Jim was transferred to the convalescent depot, France, on October 4th. The injuries sustained by Lieut.-Col. C. H. Weston, in the recent fighting, are stated in a hospital report received early this morning, to be severe. Mr. J. Richards, for many years guard on the New Plymouth section of the railway, but no wgoods foreman at Cliristchurch, arrived in New Plymouth last night on holiday leave. He is accompanied hy Mrs. Richards.
A cable has been received by his parents in New Plymouth that Private Desmond Fox has been admitted to the New Zealand General Hospital at Codford, suffering from an injured knee. Captain H. A. Stratford, headmaster of the Central School, and formerly headmaster of the Inglewood School, is mentioned in the hospital and progress report as being severely wounded.
Mrs L. Barr, of N.P., has received advice that her son, Private W. G. Barr, who was wounded fn France on July 30th was transferred to the N,Z. General Hospital, Brokenliurst, on October 9th.
Mrs E. A. O'Donnell, Brown Street, New IPlymoutli, has been advised that her brother, Private Richard Barrett, was admitted to a French hospital on September 30th, severely gassed. The following invalided soldiers Avill return to New Plymouth by the mail train to-night: Privates Coleman, Falconer, Holdsworth, Peteh, Pascall. Young and James (Rahotu).
e Mr. A. Wood, of Omats, has received word of the death of his brother Newton, from measles and bronchitis, nt the base hospital in France. This mnkc? the second brother the war has claimed. (Private Wood left with the 24th Reinforcements.
