WAITARA.
(From Our Own Correspondent). The "Freezers" second Imll was promised brighter and better than the first effort. There were not quite as many onlookers as on the first occasion, but the large floor appeared as well filled as previously with dancers. A contingent of the Merry Musical Maoris'gave some of their songs, poi dances, and hakas which were much enjoyed. Altogether a most enjoyable and, to the babv, profitable evening resulted. The kiddies' dance on Friday night was another large success, there being probably an even better attendance than at the last. Needless to say with plenty of dancing, rollicking, eating and drinking they had a very happy time. Saturday was a busy day for both baby committees. The town was crowded with people from early morning till late at night. The business committee ran a mart, the bulk of the poultry and produce of which was supplied by the Maoris, everything lifting cleared out, with no difficulty. During the afternoon and evening the tamarikis. girls and Noting fellows kept a big crowd amused I with poi dancing, singing and hakas. The Freezers ran a parcels' day with quite satisfactory results, disposing of some 1500 parcels. The system of selling envelopes with numbers in them proved rather slow in the handing out of the parcels to correspond, but was got through in reasonable time. Sergeant Roland Lawrence, son of Mr. W. Lawrence, was amongst the wounded in the last big push. His many friends can only hope his injuries are not of a' nature to keep him long incapacitated.
