j SHOCKING FATALITY AT TOKOMAEU. By Telegraph.—Press Asseciation. Wellington, Oct. 18. A shocking accident occurred at Tokomaru yesterday afternoon, when the New Plymouth-Wellington express passed through. A lad of 11 years of age named Reginald Edward Thomas Pekin, son of Mr. and Mrs. E. Pekin, residing at Tokornaru, was on the station platform and crossed from there over to the goods shed across the rails. On coming back he evidently did not hear the approach of the'train. and was struck by the engine. Dr. Putraan was telephoned for, and was quickly in attendance, but the lad had evidently been struck on the head, and death must have been instantaneous. Much sympathy i 3 felt for the lad's par. ents.
