THE HENWOOD LEASE. To the Editor. Sir, —As my name was mentioned at the sitting of the Military Service Board re this matter, I should "like the following facts published: Mr. Henwood, senr., is a man who does his own legal work, with regard to his family businessi He has a lease drafted by himself, and for pome years past I have made copies of this lease for various members of his family, substituting names,-dates, aiid amounts of rent. Some years ago, 1912 or 1913, Mr. Henwood told me he was going tp Auckland to live, and wished to have an agreement drawn between himself and his son Arthur. He requested me to copy his draft lease and fill in details as dictated by him. He and liia son signed same, in May, 1910, Mr. Henwood, senr., informed me that agreement was lost, and asked me to make three copies from his draft lease. Some time about August, lflLfi, the parties met in my offiec, and Mr. Henwood requested me to copy the agreement with the original date on it. As I had no copies and no recollection of the old date, I had to depend on Mr. Henwood's date, which he gave as September 1, 1912. To the best of my memory the agreement was stamped between that date (Aug.. 1916) and November 20, 1910, Mr. Henwood ha?ing obtained advice ajbout stamping,— I am, etc., JOSEPH GIBBS,
