DISTRICT NEWS.
TJREUUI. . N (From a Correspondent). By'"Your Own" in Tuesday's issue we are told that on Gala Day quite a pretty sight was seen in Mr. S. Marshes motor lorrie, which was beautifully dccorated.ln common justice to all Who helped to make the procession a success why should that one item be in capital letters and other exhibits not mentioned? All honor to the ladies mentioned. Their display was bright and pretty, so was D'Arcy George's car, which took a first and special, and, as one of the judges remarked, it was a perfect picture, and she had great pleasure in pinning on the special.
For the sake of those who did not see the event I should like to describe the car. Across the front on red in white letters were the words "Tales My Mother Told." The car was decorated with fern and white flowers. In the car were seated "Darby and Joan," "Miss Muffit," "BoPeep." "Boy Blue," "Jack and Jill," all carrying little rwj 'banners 'with their names telling the tales my mother told. Mr. G. Soger's car was also very pretty in Red, White and Blue. Mr. Bleakley's exnres.a was simply a dream, being tastefully decorated by Miss Sowry. The Maori band express, a bower of ferns ; Dunbar's cjir as Eed Cross Ambulance, and Davie Dunbar's lorrie decked with bride, wedding cake, etc., made a good display. All the other exhibits were worthy of firsts and specials,, they being too numerous to mention here.
