DISTRICT NEWS.
iBAHOTU. (From Our Own Correspondent). The euchre parties on sale-day evenings are giving place to a straight-out dance in aid of patriotic purposes. The bride doll was presented by Mrs. Dew and dressed by Mrs. W. Corkin and named by the bank manager of Opunake. The name was correctly guessed, "Euphemia." by four different people, but Mr. Roebuck became the final owner. Somewhere about £0 was collected in sixpences by this means. A number of farmers journeyed to Mr. W. R. Wright's lower farm on the Tipka road, where Mr. Browne gave a and demonstration on grass growing and the manuring thereof. Mr. Browne is to lecture in Rahotu again in (about a month's time. The farms to be visited are Messrs A. Chapman's and V. Tyrrell's.
A few more pedigree Jersey bulls have been purchased and brought into the district again this year by Messrs A. Phillips, W. C. Green, R. Dawson and others. Mrs. Morrow, sen., was successful in disposing of four of the pedigree Holsteins at the 'Waiwakaiho bull sale. Mr. and Mrs. W. Harrison, of Pungarehu, have come to reside in Rahotu. Mrs. Harrison has been appointed mistress of the school.
Mr , and Mrs. E. Duggan and family have sold their Kahui road farm and come to the township to retire. So just at present all the houses are occupied, which makes things look much brighter. Messrs T. P. Hughson have secured the services of Miss Brown as dress-maker, so that want will be supplied
