WAITARA.

(From Our Own Correspondent). A most successful and enjoyable function was the oft-repeated opinion expressed in connection with the business baby poster social on Thursday night. There were 400 people present, and they all expressed wonder at the amount of trouble that the committee had gone to in making the place look such a thing of beauty. The costumes were both neat and quaint. The floor was voted excellent, and the supper left nothing to be desired. The decorations of the tables were most pleasing, and altogether the general arrangements met with everyone's approval. The New Plymouth singing Pierrots, after a very heavy day assisting at the Urenui fair, assisted tinsocial by a number of items which were highly appreciated. The orchestra's playing was pleasing.

On Tuesday next 'the final flutter in connection with the business baby takes the form of a big skating carnival in the same building as used for the social. There will be something like 70 pairs of skates available. "Bigger and brighter" than ever is the mark aimed at by the freezers' committee, for their ball on Thursday next, Given a fine night, there will again be a large attendance. Urenui folk let themselves go yesterday to some effect. The procession was worth going a long way to see, whilst the general arrangements were of a most complete character, the result of which spelt success.

Next Saturday the freezers are having a parcels day, when something good is to be offered to buyers of parcels. They propose selling tickets in the town and country on the same plan as was so ""ncßssfully adopted recently by the ' v "<mercial Travellers' Club in Wellington.
