IMPOSING ON NATIVES. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Auckland. Oct. 10. Mary Elizabeth Curry, an elderly woman, on charges under the Tohunga Suppression Act,'of attempting to mislead Maoris by pretending to possess supernatural powers, was sentenced to twelve months' imprisonment. THE WAIRUNA RUMOR Wellington, Oct. 10. Inquiries in official quarters show that at present there is no reason to believe that the" statement regarding the capture of the Wairuna and the disposal of her crew by the Seeadler is correct. A ONE-LEGGED BOMBER. Dannevirke, Oct. 10. Dannevirke has produced a bombthrower in John Eric Matson, a middleaged, one-legged married man, separated from his wife, who appeared in the Magistrate's Court, and was remanded on a charge of placing blasting powder in the premises of one James Cotterill. Accused had a grudge against Cotterill over a family trouble, and allegedly made a bomb out of blasting powder and old socks, attaching thereto a fuse.. This in the middle of the night he threw into his rival's bedroom, greatly frightening him (as he admitted he intended to do) and also slightly burning him about the head and face.
