A London cable announces the death of his Highness Prince Hussein Kamil Pasha, Sultan of Egypt, who was born in 1853, and was offered and accepted the Khediviate in December, 1914, on the deposition of the late Khedive. Mr. S. H. Barriball, Bell Block, has received word that his son, Private A. E. C. Barriball, was admitted to the New Zealand General Hospital, Codford, on October 1, with injuries to the foot
The staff of the Education Board met at the board's office yesterday afternoon, to farewell Private J. J. Morris, who is on his final leave. Mr. Moore, on behalf of the outside staff, presented Private Morris with a wristlet watch.
Word has been received by Mrs. Hemingway, late of Westown, that her son, Private David W. Paton, whose name appeared in a casualty list last week, was admitted to Walton-on-Thames Hospital on September 24. Lance-Corporal Tom 'Paton was slightly gassed at Messines, but was discharged from hospital after ten days' convalescence. Corporal Jim Paton, formerly of the New Plymouth post office, last wrote from Belgium, and stated that he was in charge of the Rifle Brigade's field post office.
