WAITARA.
(From Our Own Correspondent). Waitara, Oct. 5. The baby committees are leaving no stone unturned to rake in the coin for their babies. Uo scheme is left untried. The business people are running a learners' dancing class. The attendance on Thursday warrants another being held on Monday. The freezers' committee purchased the fish caught by the crew of the Arapawa, and these will be disposed of on Saturday night. On Thursday night the poster social arranged by the business committee will take place in Hatrick's warehouse, and on the following Tuesday the much talked-of skating carnival will be held. Many novelties and competitions are to take place at this affair, so no doubt it will be interesting. The north country baby committee reports that things arc progressing very satisfactorily with their big day next Thursday. Farmers are jubilant at the very fine spell of weather. They say that grass has never been known to come away so quickly, and the cattle are all in good nick. North Taranaki started cheese-making wit.li very satisfactory results on Wednesday. At the Waipapa factory they are turning out 20 cheeses per day, and at Onaero some thirteen. This will increase every day as many of the suppliers on the by-roads are not yet able to cart milk, they still bringing cream. Work on the wharf is still proceeding apace. When completed it will be a fine structure.
