Tho lack of information regarding the intentions of the Imperial authorities with respect to butter and cheese was mentioned again this evening, by Mr. Okey (Taranaki). Mr. Massey, replying, said that within the last two or three days he had received two cablegrams from the High Commissioner, on the subject of butter exports, but he was sorry to say that neither message was definite, consequently neither was The cablegrams indicated, however, that the reorganised Food Controller's Department was now considering seriously the question of taking over the who!* of New Zealand butter. He had cabled asking for a decision as early as possible, and pointing out that the season had commenced, and a large quantity of butter was coming into store. Mr. Massey added that there was no reason why production should not proceed. He could tell the producers that the Government would do :',ll possible to find shipping space for butter until some definite and satisfactory arrangement was made.
