EGMONT RACING CLOT. MEETING OF COMMITTEE. A meeting of tho general committee of the Egmont Racing Club was held on Friday evening. Present: Messrs J. Quinn (chairman), H. Washer, H. Spratt, A. S. Tonks, W. 0. Williams, A. Good, J. Crocker, S, Adamson, R. Hickß, D. J. Goodwin, and J. Gray.

With reference to a proposal that the club contribute £IOO to the WanganuiEgmont Hunt Club, the chairman pointed out that as the Wanganui-Egmont Club was in the Wanganui district it was mandatory for the Wanganui Jockey Club to support this Hunt Club, inasmuch as it was mandatory for the Egmont Racing Club to support the Tarajiaki Hunt Club. Members were generally of the opinion that the Tarauaki Hunt Club would not seek assistance from the Egmont Racing Club, and it was resolved to contribute £SO to the Wanganui-Egmont 'Hunt Club. It was pointed out that most of the members belonged to this district, and were away doing their "bit" at the front.

Mr: Goodwin moved that members be admitted to the bird cage.

This was seconded by Mr. Gray, and after a long discussion, in which the mover and the seconder fought hard for the privilege asked for by the members, was lost. The advisableness of allocating a portion of the Club's profits to patriotic purposes came up, and it was resolved to defer consideration of the matter until after the February meeting.

ITlie appointment of a handieapper was held over until a future meeting. • of absence jvas granted JW

secretary (Mr. V. B. Stratton) for a further month. Mr. Goodwin recommended that some improvements be made to tho boxes on the course, and suggested that the floors be cither clayed or asphalted. The matter'was referred ti the Course Committee} '
