INGLEWOOD.
(From Our Own Correspondent). Inglewood, Sept. 28. There was a very large attendance of parents and boys at the meeting called to reform a Boy Scout League. The Mayor occupied the chair, and read an appropriate address. He staled that Messrs List and Wagstaff had undertaken to act as scoutmasters. Oilier speakers were Rev. E. C. Harvir. Messrs Sandford, Humphrey, and 11. Brown. The movement is likely to be a great success, and the league opens with a membership of about 60. The cigarette social held on Thursday evening was a great, success. The function was run by the physical culture class (ladies), and the proceeds are to go towards buying cigarettes for the boys at the front. The music was supplied by Miss Curd and Messrs Stockman and Lamb, and Mr. Caldwell made a very efficient M.C. The euchre prizes were won by Mrs. Horner (first) and Mrs G. Lindsay (second), and the gentlemen's by Messrs B. Brown (first) and J. Burnip (second).
In a letter recently received from Mr. H. A. Stratford, he mentions that he has been promoted to the rank of captain, and he has recently seen W. Hogg, E. Olson. F. Grant and Gilbert, and also expresses his opinion that the Hun is by no means beaten yet, especially if the number of large-calibre shells he U still pouring in is any criterion. The boys are all well, and holding up their end in a wonderful manner. Captain Stratford also wishes to be remembered to all Inglewood friends.
