Sir Douglas Hnig reports: The attack tnis morning over a six milp front southward of Tower Hamlets, to the eastward of St. Julicn, was entirely successful. The enemy later made a series of heavy counter-attacks along the new front, and hard fighting is continuing at certain points. An attack, carried out by the English troops southward of the Ypr*. : Menin ro«(i, successfully completed the capture of Tower Hamlets spur. We took possession of strong field works on the eastward slopes, which formed our objectives, and repulsed a powerful counter-attack from Ghehu elt. We met with obstinate resistance on the right of our main attack, northward of tha Vpres-Menin road.' There is heavy fighting in the area over which the'enemy counter-attacked yesterday.
