EARLY CLOSING OF BARS.
ADJUSTMENT OF RENTS .PROBLEM. By Wire. —Our Parliamentary Reporter. Wellington, Last Night. The Sale of Liquor Restriction Bill, which contains the six o'clock closing clause, is at present before the Statutes Revision Committee of (the Legislative Council. The chairman of that committee indicated in the council to-day that the Bill could not be reported before Thursday next, since a great deal of evidence had to be heard, and some difficult points studied. The committee is understood to be engaged upon the knotty problem of adjusting rents as between landlords and licensees, under the conditions of the Bill. Possibly other amendments will be suggested, but there is no likelihood of any change in the dosing hour already approved by the House, being proposed by the committee.
