Cliristeliurch, Last Night. .No steamers having called at Kaikoura for three weeks, owing to the strike and the roads being impassable on account, of flood damage, Ihe position-in regard to foodslufls is serious. In a represent tative meeting this afternoon, it was resolved to telegraph to Mr. Massey, pointing out the gravity of the situation and suggesting that Cabinet should at once appoint a tribunal to deal with the strike, or pass legislation regarding maritime matters. MEN IDLE AT WELLINGTON. Wellington, Last Night. When labor was called for to work the cargo of ail overseas steamer to-day, there was no reply from the watersides, though many were in the vicinity at the time.
