The weather was threatening, but fine, for the Otaki races to-day. There was a' fair crowd. The course was heavy. Results: MAIDEN PLATE.—Astropliel 1, lieauforte 2. Quinn's Post 3. Scratched: Aartozine, War Maid, March On, and Lady Pennies. Won by two lengths, the third horse a length away. Time, Imm 7 3-ssec. DOMINION DAY HACK HANDICAP. —Lady Beauforte 1, Polynesian 2 Hastie 3. Scratched: Nobleman, Perrier and Benope. A fine race. W 7 on by a head. Time, lmin 51sec # The next two horses were locked together. The winner was ridden by Hector Gray, who was cneered. STEEPLECHASE—CoaIition \ Union Jack 2, Gaekwar 3. Scratched: Paremata. Aratiatia and Te Mamuri. All completed the course, but the field spread-eagled after half a 'mile. Union Jack was prominent throughout, and won by two lengths, with several lengths between second and third. Time, 3min 48 l-ssee.
