TARANAKI AGRICULTURAL SOCIETY.

1 COMMITTEE MEETING. A meeting of the committee of the Taranaki Agricultural Society was held on Saturday afternoon. Present: Messrs W. Hall (voted to the chair), A. H. Benton. B. Honeyfield, A. Turnbull, A. P. Lister, N. W. Hill, C. Andrews, J. Allen and A. T. Moore. Mr. J. 0. AVright, Matapu, forwarded an enlarged photograph of the stock parade at the last autumn show. —To be acknolwedged with thanks. The Egmont A. and P. Association asked the society's support to the following resolution adopted by them:— "That while this association recognises the necessity that all means possible be used to raise taxation money, they think that the incidence'of the New Zealand Land Tax will affect this district very seriously, and that this resolution bo sent to the Minister of Finance, the member for the district and the two A. and P. Associaions." —Received, members expressing the opinion that it was now too late to do anything in the matter.

Major Cox, O.C. Taranaki Group of New Zealand Defence Forces suggested that the society's application for a lease of 7J acres of the rifle range property should be deferred till the expiry of the Newton King lease on September 6, 1918. —Left to president to deal with. Mr. J. Murray, president of the N.Z. Dairy Factory Managers' Association wrote in support of his association's resolution, passed at their annual meeting, to the etfect that butter boxes should be sealed immediately they are placed in cold storage for show purposes. —Approved.. Suggestions by 'Mr. C. Dobson as to improvements to the show-grounds on the '7i acres near tho gate were approved, and he was empowered to carry out the work. It was decided to hold the annual meeting of the society in the Soldiers' Club on Saturday, October 13. The dates of the next autumn show were fixed for February 22 and 23, 1918.
