MOTHER COUNTRY.
THE WOOLLEN TRADE. London, Sept. 19. A Board of Control has been established for the woollen and worsted industries by which the Army Council determines the amount of raw wool to be maintained for military purposes, and the amount to be released for civilian trades.
DEVELOPMENT OF COLD STORES. London, Sept 19. The Empire Resources and Development Committee is urging the co-ordin-ation of ail cold stores in the United Kingdom under Government control, and the erection of new stores in suitable localities contending that thereby there would be a considerable reduction in the cost of living. MEDALS FOR NEW ZEALANDERS London, Sept. 19. The Distinguished Conduct Medal has been awarded to Sergeant C. N. Devery and Private T. Vesty, of the New Zealand Infantry. Fifteen New Zealanders received the Military Medal.
DELIGHTED WITH THE NEW ZEALANDERS.
United Service. Received Sept. 21, 11 p.m. London, Sept. 20. Sir Thomas Mackenzie has returned from the front. He is delighted with the New Zealanders, who are in good heart, and was specially struck with the medical and nursing arrangements.
