A VIOLENT STORM.
CONSIDERABLE DAMAGE CAUSED. Australian-N.Z. Cable Association. Received Sept. 19, 7.30 pm. Sydney, Sept. 19. A whole gale of wind, with a velocity of 70 miles an hour, and torrential rain, has been raging since the .early morning. Big seas are running,,Elijpping'is sheltering, and much damage las been caused to property. Several business places suffered heavy losses, windows being blown in. The tents at the military and volunteer camps were blown down wholesale during the night. Hundreds of men were in ft'sorm plight AA man, at Glebe wstlkecl intol'teolen 4ktric cable, and was electrocuted. Telegraphic communication has been disorganised.
THE WORST EXPERIENCED. STEAMER LOSjp WITH .All* SEAICDS. Received Sept. 19, 11.5 p.m. Sydney, Sept. 10. The gale continues. It is t,le worst experienced for many years. Several people were injured by flying roofs and iioardinjjs.; , Walla were thrown down and treep Uprooted. Coastal steamers are overdue. It is believed a small coaster, the Heron, lias been lost with all hands.
