INGLEWOOD.

(From Our Reporter.) September 18.

Last Saturday week the patriotic effort of Mr. Newton King's staff lifted over £IOO, a patriotic concert and dance netted over £IOO, and the local mart (patriotic) secured a fair -sum, so Inglewood has hot done so badly.

The promoters of the ''Scotch Day" are meeting with a fair amount of support, and quite anticipate that iwhen the time arrives their efforts will be well backed up by the people of Inglewood and district. All the clans are rallying to the call, and the meetings now being held are most enthusiastic. A very pleasant evening was spent at the residence of Mr. J. P. Larsen 'by some of the Methodist congregation. During the evening songs, etc., were contributed by Miss Arthur and Mr. White, whilst the orchestra—Mrs. L. Sutherland (piano), Messrs L. Sutherland (cello), N. Sutherland (violin), and B. Clougli (cornet) —also rendered several enjoyable items. A collection in aid of the Y.M. C.A. resulted in over £2 being secured. Refreshments were kindly supplied. Before dispersing, the Rev, Richards thanked Mr. and Mrs. Larsen for the hospitality extended.

The second and iinal shoot for the set of carvers presented to the Inglewood Rille Club will be decided next Thursday. A good deal of interest centres in. the .contest. i
