l\.Z. PIUCES IN LONDON DISCUSSED. Invercargill, Sept. 17. The Invercargill representatives have returned from a conference held in Wellington, which was attended iby. from sixty to seventy millers and merchants connected with the hemp industry. The meeting was addressed by the Premier and the Hon. W. D. MaeDonald. The latter, in an explanation, aaidthe Government 'had fixed the prices at which New Zealand hemp could bo sold in London after the lath September as follows:—Good to fair. £B3, high to fair ! £SI, fair £BO. Some deals were waiting pending information such as whether the prices included war risk, or whether they were c.i.f. landed in London. It was decided to ask the Government to cable for more definite information, as the maximum price of fair current Manila lias been fixed at £BS, and the millers and merchants felt that they co-uld not not object to tho New Zealand prices as fixed. It was decided tr> recommend that the existing contracts be offered, and to ask the Government for a guarantee of shipping space for 7500 bales per month. The maximum prices fixed by the Imperial Government represent a drop of 'from £lO to £l2 on the priqes previously ruling on the London market, which will now only return to ( the millers from £53 to £SS f.0.b., acI cording to whether the war risk is. included or not. ;
