Mrs. Burgess wishes to acknowledge with thanks a donation of £l2 for Y.M.C.A. work from Carrington road per Mrs Gilbert, being proceeds from basket social, also £0 12s from Kahui road ladies, Rahotu, for Y.M.C.A. copon books to send as Christmas gifts. A committee from the Old Girls' High School Association Baby Contest met the Women's Patriotic Committee on Monday last, and it was decided to allocate the amount received, namely £4OO, as tinder: —Mis; Grant (cabled), £SO; St. Dunstan's Blind Soldiers, London, £SO; Roehampton Artificial Limbs. London, £.70; No. 1 Stationary Hospital, France, £-■0; Hornechurch Convalescent Camp, homo hour teas, £3O; New Plymouth Women's Parcel Fund, £100; Y.M.C.A. Egypt, D. McDiarmid, £25 : New Ply- , mouth Returned Soldiers' Association, £25. SOLDIERS' CLUB. August was a busy month at the Soldiers' Club, owing to * Sapper MooreJones' visit and Mothers' Day. Mrs. Burgess wishes to thank the ladies and the following hostesses for their willing help: Mesdames Nolan. Bradbury, Ewing, Misses Sole, •Purdie, 'lkrt■nell, Capel. Committee (Mothers' Day): Mesdames A. B. Maekie, Bcerc, Amhury, Stainton, Matthews. Wilson, Simoock, Gilbert Lister, R. Cock, E.F. Blundell, J. Austin, F. Hooker, Misses Phillips and Okev. There were 253 soldiers' guests and 150 entertained by the committee on 'Mothers' Day, making a total of 433. Donations amounting to £5 2s have been received from regular subscribers. Red Post weekly. Miss Bennett's counter box 10S Sd and 7s 2d from standard 2 Central School, per Mrs. Firth. Three gold medals have been presented for the billiard tournament, and gifts of cake and books are gratefully acknowledged. Mrs. Burgess wishes to state that ladies willing to fill vacancies on the September tea list should kindly ring up >'o. 90.
