THE CABINET.
THE NEW MEMBER. (From Our Parliamentary Reportei). Wellington, Sept. 12, There have been long sittings of the Cabinet during the last few days and it is rumored Ministers have been discussing the appointment of a successor to the late Dr. McNab and the creation of a number of legislative councillors. Of course the nomination of the new Minister rests with Sir .Joseph Ward as leader of the Liberal Party, but hitherto he has shown no particular desire to fill the vacancy. Lately, however, a number of knotty questions have arisen in Cabinet and have emphasised to the progressive members of th e House the importance, of having their .views fully represented at the table. Tlie lion. David Buddo is still mentioned as the eondidate on whom the honor is most likely to fall, but tho party leader himself has given no indication of his preference, and the appointment remains the subject of wide speculation.
