SUCCESSFUL TARANAKI CANDIDATES.
j l'h« results of the examination held in ; July last by the Auckland Sunday School 1 Union have been published. The union being inter-denominational, schools con- ' norlcd with all branches of the Christian Church took part. Those receiving the three highest marks, or those gaining equal marks for first place, in each grade, were awarded honors prizes. All candidates securing 85 per cent, of marks also secured prizes. Those who gained from 70 to 84 per cent, receive an honors certificate, 55 to C!) per cent, entitle the recipient- to a first-class certificate, while those who secured 40 to 54 per cent, received a second-class certificate. 1 The following are the successful local ! andidates:
Fourth grade (ages 15-17). —Prizes: Elsio If, Honnor, New Plymouth, 89; Dorothy Board, Stratford, BS. Honors Certificates: Mary Coleman 84, Muriel Jessie Gillespie. Bertha Elliot, and P. G. Northern 82, all New Plymouth; Margt. S. Young, r.incoln Road, fnglewood, S4.
Fifth grade (ages 1.3-15). —Honors certificates: 11. Clemow, Stratford, 81; Wednewood Boon, Stratford, 80; Gordon Fauil, Stratford, 74>. Sixth grade (ages . —Prize: Russell Hoby, New Plymouth. SG. Honors certificates: Nellie Burkett, Eltliam, SO; Albert Edwards, Eltliam, 77; Keitha Martin, Stratford, 70; Stuart Elliott, New Plymouth, 70; William Northern, New Plymouth, 75; Nessie Seivewright, New Plymouth, 72; Cecil Honnor, New Plvmouth, 70.
Seventh grade (ages 9-11). —Prizes: Lizzie Alice Elliott, New Plymouth, 92; Beryl Masters, Stratford, 85. Honors certificates: Bruce McAlister, Stratford, S'i; Florence -Jfarknoss, Stratford, 84; Eva Margaret Burkett. Stratford, 74; Cecily Elliott, New Plymouth, 71.
