SOUTH CANTERBURY FARMERS' CO-OP. ASSOCIATION. Timaru, Sept. 4. The South Canterbury Farmers' Cooperative Association had a successful year, and under ordinary conditions would have been able to make a full distribution of profits. The new taxation prevents this. Provision, is made for part of the usual discounts and commission rebates, a dividend of 0 per cent, on preferential and 7-J per cent, on ordinary shares, a bonus of 4 per cent, to the staff. The directors decided to invest £IO,OOO in the War Loan, SOUTHERN PRODUCE MARKET. Christehurcn, Sept. 4. The interruption in shipping communication between the Dominion and Australia through the Australian strike has put a number of millers in the awkward position of having to close down or run on single shifts, owing to the scarcity of wheat. One of the large mills in Christchurch has closed dawn, and njiother is curtailing its output of flour. Only small odd lots of wheat are to be obtained, but it is known that a large line, including two seasons' wheat, is still held by one grower. Bran and pollard are very scarce, and oats are scarce and very linn. There is no change in oatshcaf chall'.
