/MANAWATU FARMERS' PROTEST. By Telegraph.—l'ress Association. Pialmerston JST., Last Night, The provincial executive of the Faiv mars' Union' td-day passed the following resolution: "That the executive protests against the heavy taxation on land as against the comparatively low taxation of income derived f.-om capital invested" in mortgage on knd; that the executive considers that in the case of heavilyraorfcgagcd properties the nominal owners will be imduly taxed in comparison with the mortgagee, and that it- would be more equitable if the mortgagees paid the higher grade of income tax, and the farmer the lower grade of land tax, or, in the alternative, that owners of land should he able to recover one-third from the mortgagee of the proportion of the land tax due on account of his mortgage-" ; . ,
