A WOMAN'S DEATH.
SUDDEN AND STARTLING. A sudden death occurred last evening, which will form the subject of a coroner's inquiry. Mrs. Alley, a half-caste Hindu woman, aged 44 years, who kept a fruiterer's shop near the Empire 'Picture Theatre in Devon street, was found dead in bed by her husband, also a Hindu, in their home in Devon street, under circumstances which would seem to indicate a misadventure. About 4 o'clock yesterday afternoon, while walking homo' fi om tlie shop with her husband, Mrs. Alley complained of an internal pain, and went into a chemist's shop to purchase some medicine. Her husband waited outside for her, and (hey went home together. She took a .dose of Die. medicine, and lay down on her bed. Shortly afterwards the husband went into the bedroom to see how she was getting on, and found that she was dead. He at once communicated with Dr. Wade, who apprised the police, and the boiiv was -removed to the morgue. A post mortem examination will be .made to-day, and an inquest opened to-morrow by Mr. A. Crooke. coroner. The maiden name of +hc deceased woman was Flora Smith, but she was better kn:;wn some ycam ago as "Wild Rose," one of a company of rough-riders and sharp-shooters who toured the Dominion. : , ■•;• '
