A -wireless Russian official report Mates: We repulsed attacks southward of Ocna, in the neighborhood of Iresliti, and also in the Suchitza valley, wjth heavy enemy losses. Forty enemy aeroplanes made a series of raids on the islands in the Gulfs of Riga and Finland and dropped ninety bombs on warships and harbor Works. Enemy (mips, torp»Jo boats and submarines, have been observed in the vicinity of the coasts. Enemy trawlers are Operating in the Riga Gulf. MEASURES TO SAVE RUSSIA. UNITED STATES TO LEAD. Received Sept. 2, 5.35 p.m. New York, Sept. 1. The Sun's Washington correspondent reports that diplomatic exchanges indicate, that the Entanto Power* have agreed that measures to save Russia can best be exercised through the United States, and that they are treating with President Wilson, as the virtual leader of any action in connection with Russia. The Finni»h deputies respected the decree closing the Diet, though a number of Socialist members met privately. Thire are indications that normal relations with tiie Provisional Government will be resumed. BIG LOAN EROM AMERICA. Renter Service. Received Sept. 1, 0 p.m. Petrograd, Aug. 31. The iiourse Gazette says that the United States proposes to advance Russia a loan of five milliards of roubles. The Government has authorised the admission of women to the State service i on the same conditions as men. Another big factory fire occurred at Petrograd.
