GENERAL. „Ast week the Cardiff Ladies' Patriotic Committee despatched twenty-four substantial parcels of comforts, one for each ot <he local boys now on service. Members of the committee are now preparing Christmas parcels for them. The primary department of the Stratford High School resumed to-day aftei the holidays. The secondary department re-opens on Monday. Mr W. J. Nicholson, who is well known along the coast, has made arrangements with the settlers to erect a proprietary cheese factory on the Radnor road. The building is to be in concrete, and it is understood that the agreement provides for the settlers running it n,s a co-oper-ative concern after three years. This makes a further defection from the Midhirst Dairy Company. It is also reported that Pembroke road settlers have decided to establish a cheese factory, over 1000 cows having been promised for a start. Mr. B. J. Peters' jewellery sale will soon be at an end. Prices have been considerably reduced in the many lines he is carrying. When next in Broadway just take notice of the superb jewellery he is offering at such low figures that should ensure a ready sale. Gifts suitable for wedding presentations, farewell wristlet watches, engagement souvenirs, etc., are all there awaiting the buyers. Don't neglect this opportunity.—Advt. Easily the best place in town for toys for children is Mr. C. E. James' warehouse. Whilst the kiddies are catered for the adult is not forgotten and the shelves are crowded with fancy goods so dear to the heart of the ladies. Ladies' leather goods, jewellery, etc., are in great variety, whilst "smokes" for father (and pipes, too) are in every brand.
