ST. MARY'S SUNDAY SCHOOL.

SUOCESSFLX CONCERT. A most enjoyable musical and dramatic entertainment was given in St. Mary's Hall on l-'tiday evening in aid of Sunday school tunas, and proved a very pronounced success. The idea of holding the concert, oj initialed with the Misses Leatham and Crookc. knd to these ladies is due the credit of working arduously and well in training the juvenile performers, and in attending to all .the details so necessary to success. The manner in which the children performed showed how thoroughly they had been instructed. Tie fir.-t part of the programme consisted of musical items, the flrst being a selection on the hand-bella, the Russian National Anti.em, by Masters J.'lins, Collins and Shaw, who were encored, and >n response played tiie L'jinti "Thy Place. (I God," very effectively. Miss Eileen Ruckle gave "Craven" most pleasingly, and then came a part song in character, entitled "Old Women" by it'ii little giiis, who also contributed, and with equal success, another numOcr with the aid. of an additional little lady dressed up « a nigger boy, ''Little £ambo" A recitation, "Rig Steamers" nicely rendered by Miss Grace Hopkins, was another most acceptable contribution. The second part consisted of a touract play-let. which was surprisingly -.veil interpreted, considering- the tender years of the performers, and well merited the hearty approbation with which it was rewarded. It was entitled "Pete; Grief" and the characters were as follows: — ; Lady Fitzherbert, Miss D. Bradbury; Hon. Aiigu>ta, MN„ Kathleen Shaw; Mrs. Pluperfect. Miss YY. Crooke; Jane, Miss M. Nixon; Harriet, Miss V. Harker; Louisa, MHs Jean Carrick; Susan, Miss M. Hargreaves; Henry Pluperfect, Master Stanford I'ussell, and Peter Grief, Master Basil Hirst. The accompaniments were admirably played by Miss Leatham, and the sta?e management for the play was in the capable hands of Miss Crooke. The pretty furniture used on the stage was kindly lent by Mr. C. E. Maker. During the evening the Key. F. G. ITarvie thanked those present for their ntterelancc, and the performers for the very pleasant evening all Jiad"enjoyed. At the interval a nnmlier of girls sold sneet? among the audience, realising the sum of £1 I'is 'Jd.
