VETERANS' ASSOCIATION.
ANNUAL MEETING. > Tho annual mooting of the Veterans' 'Association was held at the Soldiers' 'Club on Saturday afternoon. Colonel Ellis presiding over an attendance of 15 members.
The balance-sheet showed a eredit balance of £1 10s -Id, there being a ntunber of subscriptions outstanding. The balance-sheet was' adopted. On Colonel Ellis being proposed for reelection as vice-president he declined to accept oftice, feeling that he could not How fulfil the,duties.
Some discussion took place as to disbanding the association, but opinions dif» feral on tho point. Eventually Mr. Robinson was elected vice-president. In ■returning' thanks, lie said it was with reluctance ho accepted the position, hut he would do all he could in the interests of tho association.
Lieutenant T. Humphries and Mr. H. Ardern were re-elected Wellington delegates. Captain Black was unanimously reelected secretary, and Captain Mclvellar treasurer.
The following committee was appointed: Messrs W. P. Brooking, G. A. Adlam, O. Oxenbam, J. Kenyon, H. Newland, J- Andrews, F. Olliver. Mr. W. D. Webster was re-e-lected Miditoi.
Colonel Ellis took the opportunity of thanking the members of the association for the loyal support they had at all times extended to him during the period lie had held tho position of vicepresident, and lie expressed the hope that the same hearty support would be extended to his successor. He mentioned that he thought therli was a good prospect of getting an increased pension, which would he satisfactory news to Veterans.
A hearty vote of thanks was accorded to Colonel Ellis for his valued services as vice-president of the association.
A vote of thanks was also accorded to tho committee for services rendered during the past_y«ar, and to Captain Black for the capable maimer in which he had carried 'out the duties of secretary.
