SAVING WHEAT FOR ALLIES# L' EDGE DEFICIT. 'Washington, Aug. 19. Mr. Hoover has issued a warning that a reduction of 20 per cent, in wheat consumption is necessary in order to conserve wheat for homo and Allied usa. He stated that the wheat deficit In the tfaited States and Canada in 1917 would be 400 million bushels compared with normal pr|-war requirements. The approximate surplus of other cereals was 900 million bushels.
