RESIGNATION OF EFFICIENCY BOARD.

THEIR ADVICE IGNORED. By Wire.--Par]iaiitentary" Reporter. Wellington, Last 'Night.. The resignation of the members of ths National Efficiency Board is not officially confirmed yet, but there is to doubt that five members of the Board hate formally informed the Government of their readiness to retire. The cause of this action Is sufficiently obvious, afohbers of the> Board are practical and sWessfill business men who 'were invited try the Government to lay aside tfioir o&H< affairs 'and devote their time to the promoting of national efficiency and the organisation of the nation for war purposes. Their function was advisory, but naturally it was assumed that the Government would attach very great weight to their recommendations. Members of j the Board have acted 'without salary, 'and it is common knowledge that they liavo worked very hard:. Some of their reports have been published and othcrß have not, but in scarcely one instance has the Government acted on the advice of the Board, even in matters described by the Board as of pressing uhpqrtanee, so that members probably feel that they are wasting their time. It is understood that the IMme Minister will ask the /Board to reconsider their decision.
