The Rev. Papakukura and Hiss Te An are down for items, whilst the evergreen dramatic reciter. Mr. Geo. .Swan, from Wanganui, will also make the trip here. Included in the Highlanders are the Raids from Huntfrvillo and Meßaes from Xew Plymouth. The local performers include Miss Sang, ster, Mr. Walters and Mr. Frank Hanford, the latter being stage manager. For Saturday the Highlanders will parade the streets just prior to noon, and from then onwards the fun should be continuous throughout the day. A dar.eing platform will be erected in Broadway, so there will be a free exhibition of dancing, piping and singing. All the clans have pegged out their quarters for operations to seek the elusive, and willing givers to the purpose—Wounded Soldiers' Fund.
There was an excellent attendance at the social and dance tendered to Private E. A. Bonnor, up on final leave. The arrangements, which were very complete, reflected the greatest credit on Mrs. O'Reilly and Mr. J. G. Falder, the prime movers. A long list of very acceptable items were contributed by Hisses E. Fitzgerald, J. Fieldes, Dora Phillips, Evelyn Kogers, Messrs Tom Ranford, Alan Betts and J. Lister. Mr. 1,. Hann, during the evening presented Private Bonnor with a wristlet watch, accompanied by best wishes. 'Die dance that followed also proved very enjoyable, the music being provided by Mrs. Bianchi. Extras were contributed by Misses George and Fitzgerald and Mr. Tom Ranford.
The long winter evenings are still on hand. To those who find time hangs heavy a visit to Ifr. C. E. James' warehouse will soon provide a remedy, as he has in stoek all classes of parlor games for young and old. Besides amusements tlie warehouse has a large range of Doulton ware, whilst the range of jewellery should satisfy ail tastes. The smoker can secure all classes of tobaccos, cigars anil pipes at lowest prices.
