HIGH COMMISSIONER'S REPORT.
Wellington, August 13. The High Commissioner's market report, dated London, August 11th, is as follows. Quotations (unless otherwise specified) heing average market prices on spot:—
Meat—Heavy supplies of inferior and medium grade are in poor demand, and are selling at comparatively low prices. Holders are anvious to sell before the Government regulations regarding maximum prices are in force. All descriptions of frozen meat continue in good demand. New Zealand mutton B%d, ewe mutton B>/ s d; Australian mutton' 10; Argentine mutton, 10d, Argentine lamb, lid. Xew Zealand beef, no supplies available; Argentine beef, quotations nominal, hinds 14d, fores 10 1-8. The butter market continues firm owing to continued small supplies. Danisri butter, no supplies available; New Zealand stocks exhausted; Canadian and Irish creamery, Australian and Argentine, are selling freely at maximum prices, 20Gs; unsalted butter, 3s more Cheese—The market continues firm English Cheddar 1325. A quantity of Australian, Canadian, Xew Zealand'and United States "fiats" has been released by order of the Government at 130s Sd, on condition that the retail price per lb must not exceed Is 4d.
