A RIOT IN WELLINGTON.
By Telegraph—Press Assooiatiofl Wellington, Aug. 1%. As a sequel to a riot in the centre of the city last night, eight men appeared < at the Magistrate's Court to-day. If was .stated that the trouble arose ov®< •• the arrest of a fireman'who refused tot leave licensed premises. The police wereinterfered with by the mates of the man, and, Jfiter, a big crowd joined in the disturbance, which lasted for about owo hours.
