PRICE OF BUTTER. (From Our Parliamentary (Reporter). Wellington, August 10.Dr. Newman again demanded information to-day regarding tile retail price of butter. He wanted 15 know wliy the retail price of the ;best brands remained at Is Sd in Wellington while thb best butter, was being sold in the' Government meat Bhops at Auckland for la od. Mr. Massey had nothing to say about tbe sales from the Government meat shops. SOLDIERS' LETTERS.
Replying to a complaint made by Mr. VV. T. Jennings (Taumarunui) in the Souse to-day, the Postmaster-General promised to make inquiries regarding the return of letters addressed to soldiers. Mr. Jennings said that letters addressed to soldiers at the front were being returned to parents through the dead letter office in a manner tihat should not foe permitted. PUBLIC WORKS. ■ Mr. W. T. Jennings is asking tJie Minister of Public Works whether, in providing any new moneys that he may have available for this year's estimates 'for road and bridgo work, he will give preference to those seUlera that have been ten, twelve, and fifteen years in districts unprovided with such public necessities.
