THE CUMBERLAND SINKS. Australian-N.Z. Cable Association. Sydney, August 13. The steamer Cumberland, after temporary patching, was floated and towed to Twofold Bay, but encountered a heavy sea and sank off Green Cape in 35 fathoms of water. The crew were rescued by the accompanying vessels A HEAVY LOSS.
Received Aug. 13, 10 p.m. Sydney, Aug. 13. The Cumberland and her cargo were valued at over £500,000. Salving material valued at several thousands was also lost.
