London, Aug. 13. Tlie offensive against Roumania is conlinuinjj with unabated violence. The tattle lasted six days, the Allies being driven bach five miles. The loss of the Jonp line connecting the two main railWay.-; in Moldavia it, a serious interference with transit. A (I'legram describes the advance on the treacherous route to Jassv, where the situation is serious, though not hopeless.

The Daily Chronicle's l'etregrad correspondent reports that there is a significhange in the attitude of the Workmen;;' and Soldiers' Council, which formerly demanded the Stockholm Conference and peace without annexations and indemnities, and insisted that Russian blood must. not he shed in furthering the western Allies imperialist aims, but is now realising that Russian freedom is endangered, and is endeavoring to reestablish the army's fighting power by issuing appeals in articles, speeches, and resolutions, declarng that this is now the supreme question.

The Odessa correspondent of the Times reports that owing to the closure of the frontier the situation at .lasay is regarded as dangerous. Tho King and Queen are unwilling to liyive, except in case of extreme necessity.

General von Mackensen's driving back the Roumanians at Marasesti threatens to eut oil' the retreat of the Roumanians lighting at Mona, so as to enable the invaders to senile the grain erops in eastern Moldavia. The King and Government have quitted Jassy'for Russia.

TROUBLE WITH 11KRAINE REGIMENT. Pctrograd, Aug. 12. A Ukraine regiment which was entraining at Kicll' for the front fired on the cuirassiers guarding the stations, and, after a ii'/ in which H were killed and .VI wounaed, the Ukraine men surrendered.
